UNK Climbing Club

I was employed at the UNK Climbing Wall within the UNK Wellness Center beginning in the summer of 2022. As engagement grew, my friends and I saw an opportunity to build on that momentum by starting a climbing club. I helped lay the groundwork to launch the club in September 2023, and once it became a Registered Student Organization, it began hosting events that allowed members to develop their skills and build community.

In the spring of 2024, with support from the UNK Wellness Center, the UNK Climbing Club hosted its first climbing competition, drawing 29 competitors—the highest turnout in four years. As Co‑President, I played a key role in both planning and marketing the event. On the planning side, I assisted the executive board with creating the registration survey, managing monetary transactions, and overseeing day‑of operations. On the marketing side, I contributed to the logo, flyers, and t‑shirt designs for participants. The competition was a tremendous success and gave me hands‑on experience planning a recreation event, which I truly enjoyed. This experience strengthened my leadership and event‑planning skills and helped prepare me for my career.
